Dead By Yawn ("we", "us", "the site") is a community-driven horror movie discovery platform. This policy describes what information we collect when you use deadbyyawn.com and our companion forum at forum.deadbyyawn.com, and what we do with it.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information — when you register, we collect your email address, a chosen username, and an encrypted password. Authentication is provided by Supabase.
  • Profile data — optional fields such as avatar, watchlist entries, ratings, mood/vibe votes, and reviews you submit.
  • Forum activity — posts, threads, and reactions you create on our forum, including post counts and reputation.
  • Usage analytics — anonymized page views and performance metrics via Vercel Analytics. No personally identifying information is collected for analytics.
  • Cookies — strictly-necessary cookies for session management and keeping you logged in.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the site and forum.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Display your contributions (reviews, ratings, posts) under your chosen username.
  • Diagnose technical issues and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted vendors:

  • Supabase — authentication, database hosting, and image storage.
  • Vercel — application hosting and anonymous analytics.
  • TMDb — movie and TV metadata. Movie and series data is sourced from The Movie Database (themoviedb.org) but we are not endorsed or certified by TMDb.

5. Your Choices

You can update your profile, change your password, or delete your account at any time from your profile page. Deleting your account removes your account record and personal data; public contributions (reviews, forum posts) may be anonymized rather than fully removed to preserve discussion threads.

6. Children

Dead By Yawn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new “Last updated” date.
